Stephen Gill produces work incorporating photography and paint.
An artist who believes he views his subjects via media and becomes guided by his own interpretation of the subject. He has an understanding that photography is all about control of the subject and resulting image and paint can be completely uncontrollable in his own, non traditional style.
Gill believes by utilising paint over photographs, he is allowing the subject to partially interpret the subject rather than the image?
His work is interesting and the combination allows for a lack of traditional skills in either format not to become an issue. His work does not have to be brilliant but carry a substantial message of his own perception and interpretation.
